Reports Of Man With Gun Add To Madison Area’s Stressful Day

University of Wisconsin police report no shots were fired and no one was injured during a tense situation early Thursday morning.  A report of a man with a gun brought a strong law enforcement reaction shortly before 1:30 A-M on State Street.  Some of the responding officers came from the scene of Wednesday’s shooting in Middleton.  A “WiscAlert” was issued as a precautionary warning, telling people to avoid the 600 block of State Street.  Police said the risk was cleared about an hour later.  No arrests were reported.
