Camp Douglas Man Gives Deceased Dog “21 Gun Salute” Charged with Possession of Firearm by a Felon

A Camp Douglas man is being charged for Possession of a Firearm by a Felon after trying to give his deceased dog a final farewell.  A witness was supposed to pick up 60 year old Lance Truax from his home when he accidentally hit and killed a dog near the residence.  Truax came out upset and said he was going to give his dog a “21 gun salute”.  Truax fired 2 rounds up into the air.  The witness notified authorities of the gun shots.  Juneau County authorities arrived at the residence around 7:30pm on July 10th.  Authorities found numerous gun related items including rifle rounds and shut gun shells.  They were also able to find two guns Truax was in possession of, a 12gauge Mossberg Shotgun and a 30-30 Winchester Model 94.
