Tomah Man Facing 8th Offense OWI

It will be his 8th offense.  50 year old Daniel Bird of Tomah is facing his 8th Offense OWI.  At around 5am on April 3rd authorities were alerted by a witness that someone had driven through their Town of Grant yard and struck an unoccupied vehicle.  Authorities located a Chevy Impala that had caused the damage resting in a snowbank with no one inside of it.  They checked the car and found job applications in the glove box with Birds name on them.  They were also able to identify Bird’s residence and were able to track him down walking to that address.  On contact with Bird, Bird claimed to be just out for a walk but then told authorities he had been a passenger in a car accident.  He gave the officers a name of a driver but only after changing his story multiple times.  Bird was then handcuffed asked to perform a field sobriety test, which he failed.  A breath test recorded a .093 blood alcohol level.  Besides the OWI charge Bird is also facing charges of Obstructing an Officer and Bail Jumping.
