Pfaff, Mary Jane, age 85 of Mauston

Mary Jane Pfaff, 85, of Mauston passed away Monday, February 5th, at Serenity House in Tomah. She was born on October 30, 1932, the daughter of Rose (Michalek) and Edward Pfeifer. Mary Jane helped out on the small farm where they lived in the Town of Lemonweir and graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in Mauston.

Mary was united in marriage to Carl Pfaff on October 22, 1955, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Mauston. The couple moved to Illinois where they raised their three children. Mary enjoyed working as administrative assistant and kitchen help at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Romeoville. When Carl retired, they moved back to Mauston.

Mary was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and often led the Rosary before Saturday Mass. She was a member of the Infant of Prague Circle and was a true believer of the Catholic Faith. She loved her birds, gardening, reading, and visiting friends. Mary always made sure to have an ample supply of cookies, ice cream, and popsicles when the great-grandchildren came to visit. She often made sacrifices to ensure that her brother, Richard, was taken care of. She also enjoyed working at the Food Pantry. Mary was a kind, loving, generous woman who was always willing to help others and babysit when needed. Mary was a woman whose loving presence can never be replaced, and she will be missed by many.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Rose and Ed, and her husband, Carl. She is survived by her brother, Richard; sons Kevin and Peter (Diana), and daughter, Susan; ten grandchildren, Sara, Stephanie, Celia (Jason), Toby (Tabatha), Emily, Quinn, Celeste, Tyler, Jessica, and Allison; fifteen great-grandchildren, Thomas, Lydia, Savanna, Layla, Gabriel, Isabella, Brayden, Kaydance, DeSean, Michael, Evan, Theodore, Cynthia, Madison, and Benjamin. Mary is also survived by many other relatives and great friends.

Mary’s family will be forever grateful for the love and compassion shown to all of us from the nurses and staff at Serenity House in Tomah.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Mauston.  Burial will be at St. Patrick Cemetery.

Friends may call on Monday, February 12th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Crandall Funeral Home, Mauston.
