Juneau County Squad Car Hits Deer, Truck Strikes Squad Car, No One Injured
No one was injured in an accident early Thursday morning that involved a Juneau County deputy squad car on Highway 12/16 in the Lisbon Township. Juneau County Sheriff Brent Oleson said the deputy was involved in a deer versus squad car while responding to an emergency call. The squad was disabled due to the crash and was parked on the side of the road with the emergency lights on. While the deputy was assessing the damage, the deputy noticed an oncoming traveling truck coming towards the squad car. The deputy was able to get out of the way, but the truck struck the rear of the squad. The driver of the truck attempted to drive away, but due to the damage of the front end of his vehicle, he was unable to leave the scene. The driver, 26-year-old Claine Clements of New Lisbon, was arrested and tentatively charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. The incident remains under investigation.
