The Wisconsin Senate approved a modified version of a three-billion dollar state incentive package Tuesday. 17th District Senator Howard Marklein voted in favor of the bill. He said bringing Foxconn to Wisconsin will change the manufacturing landscape.   “This type of company draws an entirely new universe of investment and innovation. High tech manufacturing has amazing potential and Foxconn is a company poised at the leading edge of innovation,” said Marklein. Improvements to US 12 between Mauston and Lyndon Station are scheduled to begin Thursday, September 14. The 10.7 mile project includes highway resurfacing and new guardrail, pavement markings, signing and rumble strips. Completion is expected by the end of October. US 12 will remain open to traffic under daytime flagging operations. Motorists are urged to reduce speeds in the area. A Wisconsin Rapids man was arrested after a K9 alerted to an odor of illegal narcotics during a traffic stop. On September 7th, a traffic stop was conducted by Adams County Sheriff’s Deputies on County Highway J in the Town of Adams. The vehicle was stopped for improper registration. K9 Deputy Orlowski and his partner Mieka responded to the stop. Mieka was deployed and alerted to the odor of illegal narcotics emitting from the vehicle. The ensuing investigation alleges 23-year-old Treyton Webb provided a false name and was in possession of methamphetamine paraphernalia.
