Phyllis L. Austin, age 83, of Mauston, Wisconsin died Monday, September 25, 2017 at Mile Bluff Medical Center in Mauston, Wisconsin. Per her request, no services are planned. Phyllis was born October 17, 1933 in Salina, Kansas to Phillip and Maybelle Betts.   She married Ralph D. Austin on July 27, 1952 in Salina, Kansas.  The couple lived in Minnesota, North Dakota, Illinois as Ralph worked for J.C. Penny Co.  In 1985, the couple moved to Mauston, WI where they owned and operated Highway Q Liquor and Sporting Goods. Phyllis enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and making her famous bag of bags. Memorials may be directed in Phyllis’s memory to Mauston Food Pantry. Phyllis

Six individuals were inducted into the New Lisbon Athletic Hall of Fame September 23. The inductees were Stephanie Oleson, Class of 2013, Zach Oleson, Class of 2011, Eric Oleson class of 2009, Ben Oleson Class of 2007, Mark Kopplin who was an athletic director for twenty years at New Lisbon High School and David Connor Class of 1977.
