A suspected meth lab is being blamed for a fire that happened in downtown Adams Monday afternoon. Adams County Sheriff Sam Wollin said preliminary information from the fire department said there were items located in a house fire in the 100 block of South Main Street that would be consistent with manufacturing meth. One person had to medflighted to a Madison hospital and later confirmed the house contained a meth lab. The victim’s name was not released. The investigation is ongoing. Juneau County-Mental Illness Awareness Week is October 1-7, 2017.  South Central Wisconsin Tobacco Free Coalition is commemorating the event by raising awareness of the terrible toll tobacco takes on the mentally ill in Wisconsin. “Tobacco use in this population needs to be addressed if we want to continue to reduce the negative impact tobacco has in Juneau County,” said Tara Noye.  According to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), one in three people with a mental illness smoke, or 33%, compared to the state rate of 17%. The Royall School District had its annual meeting on Monday night, where voters listened to a presentation of the district’s budget for the 2017-2018 school year. Business Manager Jeff Lankey said the tax levy is down about 4.4 percent this year and that is with a proposed two percent increase in property values.
