Rep. Brooks’ staffer, Kate Heitman, presented the citation to Robert Michel on his 100th Birthday December 9, 2017. A Kendall man and World War II veteran celebrated his 100th birthday last Saturday. Robert “Bob” Michel was born on December 9, 1917 in Stanley, WI. He grew up in Cazenovia, WI and during the Great Depression he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps. In 1941, he enlisted in the Army and served overseas. In 1945, he married Gwendolyn Long and they purchased a farm in rural Kendall, WI where they raised dairy and beef cattle. They were married more than 70 years. Rep. UPDATE: On 12-15-17 The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office was able to identify the driver in that crash.  The driver was Jaden K. Baumbach, age 22, of Tomah WI.  Mr. Baumbach had turned himself into the Sheriff’s Office on the morning of 12-15-17.  Mr. Baumbach told a Sheriff’s Deputy that he was driving, lost control of his vehicle and over corrected his vehicle.  He left the scene because he panicked. The matter remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office PREVIOUS: Monroe County authorities are looking for the public’s help with information on a hit-and-run crash that happened shortly before 6:30pm Thursday.
