(Reedsburg, WI) A Platteville man was arrested for multiple counts of causing injury by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle after an afternoon crash on Wednesday. Reedsburg Police responded to Viking Drive and E. Main Street on Wednesday at 1:30pm for a two-car accident with injuries. Officers determined that a westbound vehicle on E. Main Street, driven by John T. Wills (41) of Platteville, had operated through a red light and struck another vehicle who was turning left onto E. Main Street from Viking Drive. (Milwaukee, WI)  —  Milwaukee-based We Energies says it is sending crews and equipment to help restore power to hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico. The utility will send about 35 line workers and support personnel. Several other electric companies are sending help to rebuild the electric infrastructure heavily damaged by Hurricanes Irma and Marie. The team members from Wisconsin will travel to Florida, be loaded on a barge, and are expected to arrive in Puerto Rico early next month. (Madison, WI)  —  With the new year comes a new tax law and the changes it contains have many people rushing to pay their property taxes now.  Friday is their last chance to get an income tax deduction and many Wisconsin offices will already be closed for the New Year’s holiday.  In Milwaukee, the treasurer’s office will stay open until 3:00 PM.  Starting Monday, taxpayers who itemize will be limited to a $10,000 deduction for all state and local income and property taxes.
