The Mauston Golden Eagle Wrestling will send 3 wrestlers to the WIAA Individual Wrestling State Tournament beginning this Thursday at the Kohl Center in Madison.  Hayden Gyllin will represent Mauston as Sectional Champion.  In the 190lb weight class Gyllin started his day off with a 15-7 major decision over Fox Austin of Cuba City/Benton Scales Mound.  Gyllin then secured pin fall victories over Carson Loshaw of the Bellevue co-op in the semifinals and Ross Crist of the Darlington/Black Hawk co-op to secure a sectional championship and his 2nd straight trip to the State Tournament.  Gyllin will be the #5 seed at state.  Espyn Sweers punched his first ticket to state

EDITH ELAIN (WALTER) HEPP BURKHALTER Edith Burkhalter, age 93 years, of La Valle, WI, died February 15, 2024 peacefully at home after a brief illness. She was born January 23, 1931 to Clifford and Vera (Sonnenberg) Walter in Mauston. Attended Alton Country School, through the eighth grade. Edith and Hugh G. Hepp were married June 15, 1949 in Mauston. To this union they had six children. They farmed on the Hepp Family Farm until Hugh got ill and could no longer farm. They moved to rural La Valle where Edith cared for Hugh at home until his death in 1988. She worked at Hartje’s part-time for years. She also helped

Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday, February 23, 2024 at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 511 W. Lake Street, Friendship, WI until the time of funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Pastor Jasper Sellnow will officiate. Dick was born to Fred and Mable (Wells) Trulson on September 4, 1946 in Galesburg, Illinois. He had a very close relationship with his parents – he respected his father greatly and loved his mother dearly. Some would say he was a “Momma’s boy” as he would call her every morning.
