Wisconsin Comes Out Of Late Snow Season — Into Fire Season

Just hours after the snow melted away, local crews were dealing with three fires in Burnett County last weekend.  Several homes had to be evacuated in Clark County when a wildfire burned 20 acres not far from the Bruce Mound Winter Sports Complex.  The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is urging state residents to use caution.  More than 50 fires were reported in Wisconsin since Friday.  The D-N-R says burning debris is the number-one cause of wildfires in this state.  Careless burning is a big problem. Sauk County Man Arrested After Several People Struck With Paintballs In Madison

Police say A 21-year-old Sauk County man was arrested Sunday night after several people were shot with paintballs in downtown Madison. Madison police say a 19-yer-old reported to officers that he was talking to friends on the street when a car drove past and someone in the car fired a paintball gun and a paintball struck him in the head. A man’s back pack was struck in another paintball incident. A third man was reportedly hit in the leg. Common Ground Pushing For Smart Gun Technology

Common Ground of Southeastern Wisconsin is pushing for smart gun technology. The group announced efforts Sunday to encourage manufacturers to develop more user-authenticated guns and locks. They believe this technology will decrease the number of people injured or killed by firearms. So-called smart guns or biometric locks use fingerprints of gun owners to make weapons operable only to the person who actually owns the firearm.
