Medical Helicopter Had Been Inspected The Day Before It Crashed

A preliminary report from the Federal Aviation Administration doesn’t list a cause of last month’s fatal crash of a medical helicopter in Oneida County.  Pilot Rico Caruso, flight nurse Klint Mitchell, and flight paramedic Gregory Rosenthal were.  The F-A-A says the chopper had been inspected the day before it went down.  Federal accident investigators say it hit a tree about 70 feet tall that night, slamming into the ground at a steep angle.  The crew was returning to Woodruff after delivering a patient to Madison. Man Run Over By Menomonie Police Squad Car Files Suit

Lawyers for a man run over by a police squad car last October have filed a suit in Dunn County Court.  Brett Schulte was drunk and lying in the road on a dark and rainy night when he was injured.  The police officer tried to avoid him but still ran over the lower part of Schulte’s body.  The officer, the police department and the city are accused of being negligent.  Schulte is seeking compensation for pain and suffering, loss of wages and earning capacity, and medical expenses, but no specific dollar amount is listed.  He has paid a court fine for underage drinking and possession of a fake I-D. Milwaukee Committee Members Stunned By Rising Cost Of ACLU Lawsuit

The cost of settling a lawsuit over stop-and-frisk procedures used by Milwaukee police has topped six-million dollars.  Members of the Common Council’s Finance Committee took no action Tuesday for a second straight week.  The city would have to borrow the money, adding another million dollars to the total cost of the legal action.  The suit was filed by the A-C-L-U of Wisconsin because African-Americans and Latinos were being unfairly targeted.  The trial is still scheduled to start May 21st.
