Westby Man Allegedly Stabbed in Chest By Wife

On Friday October 19th, 2018 at approximately 03:12AM the Westby Police Department was dispatched to the Vernon Memorial Hospital for a stabbing that occurred at 25 Spruce Street in the City of Westby. The victim was stabbed in the chest and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The victim was identified as 72 year old Dennis Govier. The suspect was identified as 69 year old Melody Govier, his wife. She was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct and Substantial Battery with Intent to Cause Great Bodily Harm, both as Domestic related charges. The Westby Police Department was assisted by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Department and the Viroqua Police Department. The incident is still under investigation.
