Lyndon Station Man Facing Felony Theft Charges
A Lyndon Station man is being charged with two count of Felony Theft after trying to steal over $1,300 worth of alcohol and food from two Baraboo stores. 22 year old Patrick Benitez reportedly stole from an express market on May 29th and another Baraboo business on June 6th. According to the criminal complaint, the express market staff showed Baraboo police security camera video of two men loading a shopping cart with liquor, lunch meat, bread and potato chips. The men allegedly pushed the cart out of the store without paying, loaded the items into a vehicle and drove off. On June 6th authorities were made aware of a similar theft taking place at another Baraboo business. Benitez retreated back into the store after he saw police arrive, according to the complaint, and officers later made contact with him. The other man mentioned in the complaint was not identified by name. At the time of his arrest, Benitez was out on bail in a Juneau County drug case which has not yet concluded. Benitez has been released on a $1,000 signature bond in the Sauk County case and ordered not to have any contact with the businesses where the thefts occurred. He is due to appear in court July 20.
