Royall Baseball Loses Heartbreaker in Sectional Semi-Final
The Royall Panthers season came to an end in heartbreaking fashion Tuesday. The Panthers fell behind 1-0 quickly in the first inning. The Indees leadoff hitter Isaac Pape reached on a fielding error by the shortstop and later scored on another fielding error by the Panthers second baseman. Thru the next 6 innings Royall pitcher Jayden Enzenbacher dominated the Indees hitters giving up just 4 hits while striking out 11 and walking none. The Panthers tied the ball game up in the top of the 5th. Josh Kolodzinski singled and Keith Schnurr doubled to put runners at 2nd and 3rd with nobody out. Indy/Gilmanton pitcher Jesse Pientok struck out Ty Dragon before a Max Benish ground out allowed Kolodzinski to score and tie the game at one. The game stayed tied until the bottom of the 8th. Ezenbacher reached the 100 pitch limit and Royall was forced to go to its bullpen. Noah Friedl struck out the first batter in the 8th before walking Jesse Pientok, Friedl then struck out Samuel Killian before walking the next two batters to load the bases.
