Venegas, Anthony M. age 72 of Oxford

Anthony M. Venegas, age 72, of Oxford, Wisconsin passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018, at his home after a long and courageous battle with cancer and liver disease.   

Anthony was born September 8, 1945, in Racine, Wisconsin to Manuel and Lupe (Rodriguez) Venegas.

He graduated from William Horlick High School in 1963.  In 1965, he was drafted into the United States Marine Corps. serving in Vietnam.  Anthony was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/device, Vietnam Service Medal w/1*, and the Meritorious Mast. He was honorably discharged on November 21, 1967.  Anthony then attended UW Parkside in Racine receiving his degree in Marketing. He was employed with Rainfair, Massey Ferguson and retired from SC Johnson Wax.

He married Kathleen A. Gegare on September 9, 1972, in Racine, Wisconsin. During their 45 years of marriage, they enjoyed traveling, especially to Mexico, until his health started to decline. After retirement, they moved to Tennessee but ultimately returned to Wisconsin to be near family. He most recently resided in Oxford, Wi. Anthony loved living away from the city where he could be closer to nature and watch his birds.

Anthony enjoyed photography, baking Morning Glory Muffins, working in his yard, cheering on his Green Bay Packers and especially spending time with his family and his beloved grandchildren who affectionately called him “Boppa”.

He was a member of the Oxford VFW and the American Legion in Briggsville.

Anthony was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel & Lupe Venegas; sister, Teresa Weiss; brother, Carl Venegas; father-in-law, Gerald W. Gegare; brother-in-law, Gerald L. Gegare; nephew, Danny Lukasiewicz; and nephew, Matt Timler.

Son:  Bryan (Lisette) Venegas of Verona, Wisconsin

Daughter:  Kristina (Paul) Stolowski of Racine, Wisconsin

Grandchildren: Anthony Venegas, Ava Marie Venegas, and Madalyn Stolowski

Sister:  Amelia (Jeff) Langdon of Racine, Wisconsin

Sister:  Mary (Bill) Willis of Sacramento, California

Sister:  Rita Lukasiewicz of Paddock Lake, Wisconsin

Sister:  Sylvia (Kurt) Petersen of Racine, Wisconsin

Brother:  David (Kathy) Venegas of Racine, Wisconsin

Brother:  Tim (Tammy) Venegas of Racine, Wisconsin

Mother-in-law:  Laurie Zeh of Racine, Wisconsin

Brother-in-law:  Rick (Sharon) Gegare of Racine, Wisconsin

Sister-in-law:  Barb Gegare of Arkdale, Wisconsin

Brother-in-law:  Tom Weiss of Racine, Wisconsin

Sister-in-law: Dawn Venegas of Racine, Wisconsin

Further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A celebration of his life will be held Friday, June 8 at 2 pm at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove Wisconsin. Memorials may be made to the family or Budda Box Against Cancer.

Anthony’s family would like to thank Dr. Ehrhart in Madison, Dr. Mikelski in Baraboo, and St. Croix Hospice in Baraboo.
