Royall Panthers WALK Off into Sectional Tournament Give Vitcenda 600th Career Win
Royall baseball is walking into the sectional tournament. Josh Kolodzinski drew a bases loaded walk off of Hillsboro pitcher Garrett Sagert to give the Panthers a 4-3 come from behind victory over its Scenic Bluffs Conference rivals. A pair of Royall miscues allowed Hillsboro to take a 3-0 lead in the top half of the third inning. Hillsboro’s Gunner Hynek singled and was able to score on a wild pitch to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead, later in the inning Panthers catcher Noah Friedl airmailed a throw into left field on a stolen base attempt allowing Bronson Borchart and Dane Bach to score that extended the Tigers lead to 3-0. It then was a load of Hillsboro miscues that allowed Royall to slowly get back in the game. Arien Nordstrum scored on a fielding error in the 3rd inning to get Royall within 3-1, in the 4th Nick Murray was able to score on a throwing error by the shortstop allowing Royall to get within a run at 3-2. The Panthers were able to tie the game at 3-3 in the 5th inning after a booming triple hit by Seth Brown that allowed Jayden Enzenbacher to score. That set up the dramatic bottom of the 7th inning. The Panthers were able to rally with 2 outs as Seth Brown drew an intentional walk followed by back to back singles by Noah Friedl and Nick Murray to load the bases. Kolodzinski then took a 3-1 pitch in the dirt to bring in the winning run in the form of Seth Brown. Jayden Enzenbacher picked up the win on the mound for the Panthers. The win gave Royall head coach Joe Vitcenda his 600th career victory and allowed Royall to move on into the sectional tournament. The Panthers will host the sectional tournament and take on Independence/Gilmanton at 11am on Tuesday June 5th.
