Milwaukee Committee Members Stunned By Rising Cost Of ACLU Lawsuit
The cost of settling a lawsuit over stop-and-frisk procedures used by Milwaukee police has topped six-million dollars. Members of the Common Council’s Finance Committee took no action Tuesday for a second straight week. The city would have to borrow the money, adding another million dollars to the total cost of the legal action. The suit was filed by the A-C-L-U of Wisconsin because African-Americans and Latinos were being unfairly targeted. The trial is still scheduled to start May 21st.
