More Details and Video Footage of Portage Police Attack
Earlier in the week WRJC.com news reported on a story in Portage involving a “body slamming” nurse who came to the aid of Portage Police. More information has come out on the story. Jacob Hellenbrand-Bell and his girlfriend Olivia Boomsma, are both being held in Columbia County Jail on felony charges of Battery to a Law Enforcement Officer. Officers originally reported to a Portage hotel on a report of a man “tearing up in the snow” and then confronting hotel guests making them feel unsafe. Officers were able to confront Boomsma who told them it was her ex-boyfriend and gave them a false name other than Hellenbrand-Bell. Later that night officers located the truck reported from the hotel incident, in a gas station parking lot. The truck was registered to Boomsma. The cops then confronted the couple, when both Hellenbrand-Bell and Boomsma attacked officers before nurse Vanessa Guerra came to help out. Hellenbrand-Bell was set to begin a one year jail sentence in June. Boomsma claims that’s why she gave officers a fake name because she didn’t want him to get in more trouble. Boomsma and Hellenbrand Bell have a preliminary court appearance scheduled for April 26th.
