Mauston Common Council Approves Proposed Water Main

The Mauston Common Council approved the installation of a new water main extension along the undeveloped portion of Treml Drive, east of the WTC campus at its meeting last Tuesday. The cost is not expected to exceed $5,000. The motion passed unanimously by roll call vote.

The council also approved Ordinance 2017-1097, which eliminates the treasurer’s tax collection bond as authorized by state statute. City Administrator Nathan Thiel said recent legislation requires the municipality to carry a tax collection bond for the Treasurer equal to the entire levy the City would collect unless this ordinance is in place. The motion passed on a voice vote.

Earlier in the meeting, Public Works Director Rob Nelson said there was a bench donation for the Mauston Dog Park at Oakridge Park. Jack and Marlene Pelton donated the entire cost of a bench in honor of their late Brittany Spaniel. Nelson said that there will be a recognition for them on the fence with the other donors for the dog park.
