Tomah Memorial Breaks Ground, Announces Name Change
Work has officially begun on construction of a new hospital in Tomah. Officials from Tomah Memorial Hospital, area dignitaries, elected officials and hospital staff broke ground Thursday on a new $66 million facility along Gopher Avenue near Interstate 90 on Tomah’s south side. Hospital board president Paul Potter said while the new three-story, 140,000 square foot facility will be state of the art, it is the staff that will make the new hospital first-class. During the ceremony, Gundersen Health System officials announced that they will build a new medical office building on the hospital site to replace its clinic on Tomah’s north end. Tomah Memorial will also change its name to “Tomah Health” once it moves into the new facility expected to be completed in the fall of 2019. The public can stay up to date on the progress of the construction project thanks to a time lapse camera and see an animated video of the new facility on the hospital’s website at Tomahhospital.org.
