Vernon County K9 Dog Catches Man Who Ran From Police
A Vernon County K-9 officer caught a Readstown man who ran from the police Saturday. According to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, while on patrol, Readstown Chief Timothy Gratz identified 39-year-old Cody J. Strait and verified that his arrest warrants still valid. Strait took off on foot when he saw Chief Gratz. Vernon County deputies arrived in the area to assist in locating Strait. Vernon County K-9 Handler, Mark Bellacero, K9 Myk, and Gratz began to track where they had last seen Strait. The departments located Strait and told him to stop or the K-9 would be released. He took on foot and was stopped by K9 Myk and safely taken into custody. Strait was taken to Vernon Memorial Hospital and later taken to the Vernon County Detention Center on his warrants and new charges of obstructing and resisting, disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia. The case will be referred to the Vernon County District Attorney’s Office for formal charges. The case remains under investigation by the Readstown Police Department and the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office.
