Mauston Man Charged with Three Counts of Child Pornography

A funeral home owner has been charged with three counts of possession of child pornography. 51-year-old Steve Mitchell of rural Mauston could face $100,000 fines or up to 25 years in prison, or both, for each count. Mitchell is the owner of the Thompson Funeral Home in Wonewoc. According to the criminal complaint, on July 19, a search warrant was executed at the funeral home.  The complaint then states the Division of Criminal Investigation forensics examiner located a Yahoo Messenger Photo Sharing file folder where there were “several photos of child pornography.” Mitchell is currently in the Juneau County Jail.
