Chicago Man Suffers Injuries as a Result of a Motorcycle Accident

A Chicago man suffered non-life threatening injuries after a motorcycle accident Saturday afternoon. Vernon County Sheriff John Spears said 58-year-old Daniel R. Heiser was traveling westbound on Highway 33 in the Town of Forest in Vernon County and lost control of his motorcycle while negotiating a curve. Heiser got too far off of the shoulder and the motorcycle continued down the ditch line coming to rest when it struck a culvert. Heiser was thrown from the motorcycle. Spears said Heiser was wearing a full helmet and was transported to St Joseph’s Hospital in Hillsboro. The accident remains under investigation. Vernon County K9 Dog Catches Man Who Ran From Police

A Vernon County K-9 officer caught a Readstown man who ran from the police Saturday. According to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, while on patrol, Readstown Chief Timothy Gratz identified 39-year-old Cody J. Strait and verified that his arrest warrants still valid. Strait took off on foot when he saw Chief Gratz. Vernon County deputies arrived in the area to assist in locating Strait. Vernon County K-9 Handler, Mark Bellacero, K9 Myk, and Gratz began to track where they had last seen Strait. The departments located Strait and told him to stop or the K-9 would be released.
