Perhaps it shouldn’t be surprising that when it comes to the $10 billion, 20 million-square-foot factory being promised to Wisconsin, some statements border on the extreme. Foxconn "is bringing" 13,000 jobs. Half True. 3,000 Foxconn jobs would cost Wisconsin $3 billion, or $1 million per job. False. Now comes a claim, made in response to a boast by Gov. William Herbert Hatch (Bill or “Red”), age 86 died August 13, 2017, at his home.  Bill was the son of Samuel and Flora (Gauger) Hatch and was born on December 14, 1930, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.   Bill moved with his family to Pittsville, Wisconsin, when he was 8 years old and attended Pittsville Schools where he graduated from high school.   He met and married his high school sweetheart, Jean Ellen Arnold, in 1949.  They shared 67 years of marriage.  Bill started working at a young age when his family purchased the Pittsville Mercantile Store in 1938.  After high school, he worked in the road construction industry throughout the midwest.
