WRJC’s Million Penny Challenge Raises $4,514.79 (451,479 Pennies) For The American Cancer Society
WRJC’s Million Penny Challenge was able to raise 451,479 pennies or $4,514.79 to help kick cancer. The change broke down this way in total there were 69,504 pennies, 3,609 nickels, 4,433 dimes, 3,516 quarters, 7 half dollars, 16 dollar coins, and the rest of the funds were cash or check donations. Mauston Festival Food’s donated $1,686 to the cause with their Employee Blue Jean Friday’s as well as raising money through customer candy bar & book sales. The proceeds from the Million Penny Challenge go to the American Cancer Society. WRJC General Manager Jim Murphy is happy with the total although it is short of the goal amount. “Any amount raised helps the American Cancer Society” says Murphy. Murphy is proud of the community support, “It’s great to see all of the local businesses and the community come together to donate to such a great cause”. WRJC would also like to thank Ken Jax for helping us out by driving the Million Penny truck to the various Million Penny Challenge locations. The truck was provided by Rudig-Jensens of New Lisbon. The Million Penny Challenge will return next summer with the same goal of raising funds for the American Cancer Society.
