Wisconsin Dells Woman Sentenced For Using Someone’s Identity to Get a Nursing Job

A Wisconsin Dells woman who stole someone’s identity in order to get a nursing job at a Reedsburg hospital was sentenced Monday. Court records show that 41-year-old Jennifer L. Browne pleaded no contest to one felony count of identity theft for financial gain back in September. Prosecutors dismissed four misdemeanor counts of obstructing an officer. Sauk County Judge Guy Reynolds withheld sentencing, but ordered that Browne serve a year in jail with work-release privileges and another three years on probation after her release. Browne’s jail stay in the Sauk County case is to begin right after she has completed a separate jail sentence in a similar Marathon County case.

Prosecutors said Browne was not a registered nurse, but used the nursing credentials of someone with a similar name to get jobs at the Reedsburg Area Medical Center in 2016.
