Veteran Actress Who Played “Mrs. Garrett” Dies At 92

The veteran actress who played Mrs. Garrett in the situation comedy “The Facts of Life” has died at the age of 92.  Charlotte Rae was a Wisconsin native.  She died at her Los Angeles home Sunday.  Rae originated the character of Edna Garrett in 1978 on another show, “Diff’rent Strokes.”  “The Facts of Life” was a spinoff which ran for nine seasons.  Rae played a wise and caring housemother to a group of teenage girls.  Charlotte Rae Lubotsky studied drama at Northwestern University.
