Search for New Mauston City Administrator Underway

The search for Nathan Thiel’s position as City Administrator of Mauston has been started and the salary range has been set.  The next City Administrator will make between $75,000 and $100,000, Thiel had about an $87,000 salary before leaving.  Under Thiel’s advice the city has also lowered the requirement of 7 years’ experience to 5 years of experience in their search.   This will widen the pool of candidates.  The process of finding a new Administrator is expected to take up to 4 months and several department heads will help fill the gap until one is brought in.  Mauston Mayor Brian McGuire said Thiel was “Someone who got stuff done” and believed Thiel was helping bring money into the city.  The typical City Administrator is said to serve for about five years and Thiel has been in Mauston for Seven.  The position also is typically filled by someone from out of the area.
