New Lisbon Man Suspected to be Involved with Area Bar Break-ins
A New Lisbon man is being referred to the Monroe County District Attorney after a slew of bar and tavern break-ins. Fifty-one year old Christopher Edwards allegedly broke into Callahans Bar in Tomah during the overnight hours of June 14th 2017. Police were called to Callahans at 9AM the next morning after an employee reported damage to the back door and a gambling machine. The gambling machine had been pried open with $851 in cash missing. A cash register and Juke Box were also broken into with $1,100 reported missing. The video surveillance system had also been stolen. The police did notice a black cup sitting on the back of the bar, which was sent in for DNA analysis. Two months later the state crime lab said the DNA results matched the profile of Edwards. Edwards was also a suspect in burglaries in Mauston, Franklin, and other bars in Tomah. Edwards would not answer any questions about the break-ins and invoked his right to an attorney, when police met with him on April 12th.
