Marklein Authors Bill for $9.7 Million Increase to Sparsity Aid

State Senator Howard Marklein announced that he has authored a bill with a $9.7 million increase to the Sparsity Aid program for rural schools. The bill is co-authored by Representative Jeff Mursau. It mirrors the increase that was removed from the Governor’s budget proposal by the Joint Finance Committee during budget deliberations. Friendship Woman Arrested for Possession of Heroin

A Friendship woman has been arrested for possession of heroin. On September 27th, Adams County deputies executed a search warrant on a vehicle in the Town of Adams. The owner of the vehicle, 30-year-old Jennifer Decorah of Friendship was arrested on possession of heroin with the intent to deliver charges. The vehicle was targeted by law enforcement as part of ongoing drug investigations. Deputies received information Decorah was planning to sell the heroin she was alleged to be in possession of. Western Technical College to Host Annual Open House

Western Technical College will host its annual college-wide open house event on Thursday, Oct. 19 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the La Crosse, Black River Falls, Independence, Mauston, Tomah and Viroqua locations.
