Western Announces Passing of Vice President

Western Technical College President Roger Stanford announced the passing of their Vice President of Academics. Cherrie Bergandi was visiting family in Atlanta when she experienced a medical emergency Sunday. She passed away at a local hospital in Georgia. Bergandi joined Western in August of 2017. She was Dean of General Education at Chippewa Valley Technical College prior moving to La Crosse from Eau Claire. She is survived by her husband Chaz. She was 57. Community Strength Training Program for Women in Juneau County

The Juneau County Health Department is partnering with the Aging Disability and Resource Center to offer the StrongWomen Program, an exercise program for middle-aged and older adults. Classes will be offered in Mauston, starting the week of January 8th, 2018. Classes are Monday and Wednesday at the New Lisbon Utilities Center from 11am to Noon. Each class includes progressive weight training, flexibility, and balance activities. Tara Noye, Juneau County Health Department Health Educator is coordinating these programs. All instructors have been trained in the StrongWomen program and have had personal successes participating and leading strength training classes.
