A big pot bust in western Wisconsin. The Wisconsin State Patrol seized 290 pounds of marijuana, following two separate vehicle pursuits near Osseo Thursday. Sheriff John B. Spears, reports a house fire that was reported to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, 911 Communications center on January 18th, 2018 at 10:47am.  John G. Wanless age 90 of Rural Hillsboro, Wisconsin reported the chimney fire and is also the owner of the house.  The property is located in the Town of Hillsboro, off from Subera Road, Vernon County. Hillsboro Fire Department, Hillsboro EMS, Wonewoc Fire Department and Deputy Larry Howell of the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office were sent to the fire by Vernon County 911 Communications center.  Deputy Howell was the first emergency personnel to arrive on scene, at 10:53am, when he observed smoke coming from
