Attorneys Plan To File For Clemency For Brendan Dassey

Lawyers for convicted killer Brendan Dassey says they will file for a petition of executive clemency with Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers in an effort to get him released from prison. Attorney Laura Nirider spoke about the clemency request on a segment of “C-B-S This Morning” Wednesday. Nirider and others claim the then 16-year-old Dassey was coerced into confessing that he helped his Uncle Steven Avery murder photographer Teresa Halbach in 2006. The U-S Supreme Court declined to hear his appeal after a federal appeals court ruling upheld his conviction. He’s now 29 years old and has served more than 13 years in prison. Avery is also serving a life sentence for Halbach’s murder.
