Wonderful Turnout For Mauston Community Sharing Food Pantry at Holiday Train
It was another successful night for the Mauston Community Sharing Food Pantry on Monday evening. As the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train rolled into town, it was a record turnout as the pantry took in 1,092 pounds of food and an estimated 2,000 people attending. Pantry Director Kathy Green said they received almost $2700 in donations, the most they received in a single evening. Then the Canadian Pacific Railroad gave a check of $4,500 for the food pantry. In addition, the First Weber Foundation offered to match donations up to $3,500, doubling the donations. Green said they are short of matching that full $3,500 from the First Weber Foundation, but only by $800. She said people still have a chance to make a donation, they just need to get a check to the pantry by Friday and those funds will be matched. For more information, contact Green at 847-5454.
