Vernon County Sheriff John Spears Reports

SHERIFF JOHN SPEARS REPORTS THE FOLLOWING ONGOING ACTIVITIES FOR THE YEAR AND NARRATIVE EXCERPTS FROM THE WEEK ENDING July 10, 2017.

7/3                        Bruce L. Wolfe, Westby, was stopped to make a turn into a driveway on State Highway 27.  Cyril G. Jordan did not see the Wolfe vehicle, approached too quickly from behind, and was unable to stop.  Jordan swerved to the right and sideswiped the rear passenger side of the Wolfe vehicle.  No one was injured and neither vehicle was towed.

7/5                        Genevieve Hage, Coon Valley, reported her mailbox appeared to have been “blown up” possibly by fireworks at her Town of Coon property.

7/5                        Anna M. Karis, Cashton, struck the vehicle of Lucas J. Brueggeman, Ontario, which was parked on Main Street, in the Village of Ontario, causing minor damage.  Karis’ vehicle was towed with disabling damage.  Karis was not injured.

7/8                        Daved E. Gorn, Kendall, signaled to make a left turn from State Highway 33 into a parking lot on County Road HH, in the Town of Hillsboro.  As Gorn was making the turn, Steven J. Mitchell, Hillsboro, pulled around the left of the Gorn vehicle, causing the Gorn vehicle to collide with the rear of the Mitchell vehicle.  Both vehicles sustained functional damage and the drivers suffered no apparent injuries.

7/8                        Chelsea M. Waldenberger, Wauzeka, was northbound on Olson Lane, Town of Jefferson, swerved to miss a deer, and struck an embankment.  The vehicle had disabling damage to the passenger side front tire and was towed.  Waldenberger may have suffered minor injuries.

7/8                        Ella M. Swenson, Viroqua, was proceeding onto Sag City Road, Town of Franklin, from a private drive, not seeing Brian G. Ramsey’s vehicle already traveling on Sag City Road.  Ramsey was not able to brake in time because of loose gravel on the road, and hit the rear of the Swenson vehicle.  The vehicles were not towed, and neither driver was injured.

7/8                        Samantha J. Hass, Chaseburg, fell asleep while driving on Jore Road, Town of Coon.  Hass hit the ditch, but was able to drive away from the incident.  She was not injured.

7/8                        Kevin D. Long, Stoddard, was driving his motorcycle on State Highway 56, Town of Harmony, when a deer ran onto the highway, hitting the side of Long’s bike.  He reported a possible injury to his leg.

Joshua J. Byrne, New Glaris, on US Highway 14, Town of Hamburg:

Peter G. Schmidt, Viola, on County Road SS, Town of Liberty;
