Representative Ed Brooks Receives WTA Lifetime Achievement Award
Representative Ed Brooks of the 50th Assembly District was recently awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award for his efforts on behalf of town interests.
“On rare occasion the WTA will recognize the persistent, long term dedication to town government that has been exhibited by Representative Ed Brooks. It has been over three decades since such a distinction has been provided,” said Mike Koles, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Towns Association. “Ed’s service as a town official since 1979, including 33 years as chairperson, his dedication to the Sauk County Unit of WTA as vice-chair, and his 10 year state legislative career are significant headlines, but it is Ed’s quiet, but strong and consistent voice supporting the common person just trying to do their best to serve citizens that separates him from most others in state and local government.”
Representative Brooks was presented a plaque that read “In Recognition of a Lifetime of Steadfast Dedication to Town Government, Local Control, and Collaboration with Citizen Leaders and Entrepreneurs, together Striving to Just Simply do the Best for Representative Democracy.”
Rick Stadelman, former Executive Director of the Association, added, “Ed Brooks has been an outstanding and respected local and state official. Through his many years of public service he was an advocate for agriculture and local government. Ed has always been true to his roots as a farmer and town officer, advancing many issues to support agriculture and town government. Ed Brooks is most deserving of the WTA Lifetime Achievement Award.”
WTA President Lee Engelbrecht stated, “Towns and citizens throughout Wisconsin, most whom have never met Representative Ed Brooks, owe him a debt of gratitude.”
