Portage Man Has Sentence Withheld, Put on Probation
A Portage man who had spit in ambulance member’s face after his arrest in pleaded no contest to battery, resisting or obstructing an officer, and disorderly conduct Tuesday. Court records show 24-year-old Andrew Premo had his sentence withheld, but will serve 20 days in jail and two years on probation for the charges. Charges of Discharge Bodily Fluid at Public Safety Worker and misdemeanor bail jumping were dismissed but read-in during sentencing.
In March 26, 2017, Premo allegedly made threats that he would kill people inside a home in the Town of Lemonweir with a firearm. Officers responded and ordered Premo to show his hands, but he refused. He continued to disobey the deputy’s orders, and was tasered. Officers pulled Premo to the ground and handcuffed him. Due to the taser shot, a strong odor of intoxicants and Premo occasionally losing consciousness, an ambulance was called. While being transported to the emergency room at Mile Bluff Medical Center, Premo became uncooperative with ambulance staff and spit in the face of a crew member.
