Necedah Village Board Gets Update on Lake Necedah Plans
The Necedah Village Board got an update on the Necedah Lake Plan at its meeting on Monday night. In an email, Village Administrator Roger Herried said the village is working with a consultant to determine the best way to improve the water quality, fish habitat and maintain recreational use of Necedah Lake. The process involves obtaining public input, monitoring the water quality, inventorying plants, inventorying fish and developing a plan that promotes recreational use without negatively impacting the Necedah Lake. Herried said when the plan is completed, it will be submitted to the Department of Natural Resources. It will also be used to help Necedah make future decisions regarding the lake.
The Village is working with Ehlers and Associates to develop a 5 year plan. Herried said the plan analyzes operating expense, operating revenues, capital projects, and major equipment purchases. He also said the Village is in a good financial position and this plan will ensure the Village remains in a good financial position.
Herried also gave an update on the Community Block Grant Application, which would help fund renovation projects to several streets within the village. The project includes water, sewer, and storm sewer, street work for 5th Street (Bluff Street to Weston Street), 6th Street (Main Street to Weston Street), Bluff Street (5th Street to 7th Street), West (6th Street to 7th Street)and Weston Street (6th Street to 7th Street). Herried said the application is being reviewed by the state.
The idea of a disc golf course was introduced to the Village Board at Monday’s Meeting. It was referred to the Parks Committee to investigate the possibility of having one. Herried said the Village Board needs more information to determine if the project is feasible.
