Monroe County National Night Out Scheduled Aug. 1

Area residents can learn how to keep safe and have some fun during the annual Monroe County National Night Out Aug. 1, in Tomah’s Winnebago Park. Coordinated by the Tomah Memorial Hospital Community Outreach Department, there is no charge to attend the 15th annual event from 4 PM to 8 PM, which Monroe County Sheriff Scott Perkins says builds neighborhood camaraderie.

The Tomah Police Department’s Bike Safety Expo will be held from 4 to 6 P-M with registration at 3:30. More than 30 not for profit organizations will have various exhibits, information booths, health screenings and displays. There will also be food sales and children’s activities including two bounce houses. The area K-9 Unit and Combined Tactical Unit will be part of a live demonstration, while a mock traffic crash, complete with the use of the Jaws of Life will feature fire and rescue units from several Monroe County agencies. Weather–permitting, Gundersen Health System’s MedLink AIR helicopter is also scheduled to be on display.
