Mauston Cross Country Teams Compete at Thunderbird Challenge
The Mauston High School cross country teams competed at the 2017 Thunderbird Challenge on Tuesday, September 19th. The meet was hosted by Baraboo High School.
The girls cross country team raced their way to the team championship at the 2017 Thunderbird Challenge. The team scores were Mauston 57, Sauk Prairie 61, Baraboo 67, Reedsburg 82, and Wisconsin Rapids 87. The girls team was led by medalist performances by: Journey Malacina 2nd (21:34), Anna Boppart 6th (22;17), and Mya Scully 9th (22:46). The balance of the MHS Girls Varsity placing: Grace Hammer 19th, Kelsey Georgeson 21st, Isabell Kemp 23rd , Kennedy Barnier 37th and Crystal Cafferty 38th.
The boys cross country team placed third at the 2017 Thunderbird Challenge. The team scores were: Baraboo 31, Sauk Prairie 36, Mauston 68, Wisconsin Rapids 84, and Reedsburg 137. The MHS boys team was led by medalist performances by: Josiah Ziebell 7th (18;26), Luke Boppart 10th (18:32), and Ray Gruman 13th (19;02). The balance of the MHS Boys Varsity placing: Dylan Dearth 17th, Jacob Cafferty 22nd, Preston Shields 24th, Teagen Miller 34th and Nate Thayer 39th.
