Juneau County Clean Sweep Next Weekend – July 21 & 22
Do you have old or unwanted chemicals or pharmaceuticals sitting around your farm or home? Have you ever wondered how and where to properly dispose of these hazardous wastes? Juneau County farmers, small businesses and households have an opportunity to dispose of these hazardous wastes with moderate to no charge at the Juneau County Clean Sweep. This special event is designed specifically to give residents a chance to properly dispose of hazardous wastes that should not be thrown out in the normal garbage disposal. Funding for this program is provided by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) and Juneau County.
With funding received, Juneau County residents can dispose of hazardous waste with moderate to no charge on Friday, July 21 at the Juneau County Highway Department in Mauston with a collection for farmers from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, then for households from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. or on Saturday, July 22nd for households from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Help protect the environment and your family. Improperly stored or disposed chemicals and pharmaceuticals can pollute ground and surface waters or cause health and safety risks for you and your family. Plan on participating in the Juneau County Clean Sweep Program on July 21st and 22nd. Preregistration is required for farmers and small businesses participating in the Juneau County Clean Sweep by July 14th. To register or for more information and a brochure describing the program in more detail call the Juneau County Land and Water Resources Department at (608) 847-7221 – extension 3.
