Death of Local Man Under Investigation of By Juneau County Sheriff’s Office
The death of a local man is still under investigation by the Juneau County Sheriff’s Office. Juneau County Sheriff Brent Oleson said on September 14, 32-year-old Ross Hayes was allegedly breaking into a home in the Lemonweir Township and vehicles at a business on Powers Road before being chased by employees. Employees chased Hayes, who ran to Hamm’s Trailer Court. Employees of another business observed the subject and held him for law enforcement officers who arrived on scene shortly thereafter. As officers were handcuffing Hayes, they noticed he was non-responsive. Officers administered Narcan and started CPR. Haynes was transported to Hess Hospital and then flown by helicopter to another hospital, where he died on September 17. Items from the purse taken from the home invasion were in Haynes’ possession. Oleson said an autopsy was conducted September 20 at 10:44 a.m. Preliminary autopsy did not show any evidence of physical trauma to the body. The Coroner’s Office is waiting on toxicology reports which will provide insight into the cause of death.
