Crest View, Fair View nursing & rehabilitation centers earn five-star ratings

Earlier this year, Mile Bluff’s Crest View and Fair View nursing & rehabilitation centers both earned five-star ratings from The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

The official site for Medicare (www.medicare.gov), provides a resource that rates each nursing home on a scale of one to five stars.  The five-star quality rating system was created by CMS to help consumers, their families and caregivers compare nursing homes in an easy way.  Nursing homes with five stars are considered to have quality that is above average.

Each nursing home receives one overall rating, as well as separate ratings in three areas:  health inspections, staffing and quality measures.

Health inspections

This rating contains evaluations from the three most recent inspections and investigations at the organization.  Trained, objective inspectors visit the facilities, and follow a specific process to determine the extent to which a nursing home has met the minimum quality requirements of CMS.  The most recent survey findings are weighted the most when determining a score.

Staffing

The staffing rating has information about the number of hours of care that is provided, on average, to each resident each day by nursing staff.  This rating considers differences in the levels of residents’ care needs in each nursing home.  For example, a nursing home with residents who had more severe needs would be expected to have more nursing staff than a nursing home where the resident needs were not as high.

Quality Measures (QMs)

The quality measure rating has information on 17 different physical and clinical measures for nursing home residents.  The QMs offer information about how well nursing homes are caring for their residents’ physical and clinical needs.

Nursing homes vary in the quality of care and services provided.  Health inspection results, staffing data, and quality of resident care information are three important ways to measure the quality.  The star rating system can provide important information and help individuals compare homes by topics considered to be most important.  However, none of this is meant to serve as a substitute for visiting a facility.

While no rating system can address all the important considerations that go into a decision about which nursing home may be best for a particular person, it can provide a trustworthy snapshot of the quality of care provided at each facility.

Mile Bluff is proud to provide five-star quality to the patients at Crest View in New Lisbon and Fair View in Mauston.  For information about, or a tour of either facility, call the appropriate number below.
