Columbus Man Receives Minor Injuries in Motorcycle Crash in Vernon County

A Columbus man received minor injuries in a motorcycle crash Saturday afternoon. Vernon County Sheriff John B. Spears reports that 23-year-old Alec J. Kretschman was traveling west on County Road P near the intersection of Pa’s Road in the Town of Clinton, and he lost control of the motorcycle. Kretschman was treated at the scene for minor injuries by Tri-State Ambulance.  Sheriff Spears said Kretschman was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, which remains under investigation. Monroe County Sheriff’s Office to Join the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” Campaign

Whether the cause is alcohol, prescription medication or other drugs, driving impaired endangers everyone traveling along roadways. Nationally, one-third of all traffic deaths involve drunk drivers. Last year in Wisconsin, alcohol-related crashes resulted in 143 deaths and over 2,900 injuries. In addition, there were over 24,700 traffic convictions for drunken driving in Wisconsin. Gundersen St. Joseph’s Hospital and Clinics to Hold Stepping On Program

Gundersen St. Joseph’s Hospital and Clinics will be providing a program to help individuals who have experienced or are at risk of falling. The Stepping On program is a seven week program that begins Friday, September 15 from 9 – 11 a.m. in the Eagleview room at Gundersen St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hillsboro. The program meets for two hours a week over a seven-week period. Topics include balance and strength training, vision, medications, footwear and home safety.
