“Cops on the Rooftop” Fundraiser Friday in Tomah

Law enforcement agencies in Monroe County are once again participating in the “Cops on the Rooftop” on Friday, August 11 at Dunkin Donuts in Tomah. It’s an annual fundraiser for the Special Olympics. Last year, the event raised $60,000 in Wisconsin and Tomah has ranked #1 in Wisconsin for the amount of donations raised for the last 2 years. The fundraiser runs from 6-11 am. Camp Douglas Man Charged with Child Sexual Assault Faces More Charges

A Camp Douglas man has been charged with additional counts child sexual assault. In a criminal complaint, 46-year-old Brian Jones is facing two counts of 1st degree child sex assault, three counts of child sexual exploitation, four counts of child enticement, and six counts of possession of child pornography. Court records show a $50,000 cash bond was set for Jones and he is to have no contact with the victims or their caretakers. He is currently in the Juneau County Jail. Jones is also facing two cases from 2016, in which he is charged with 2nd degree sexual assault and also 1st degree sexual assault, incest, and possession of child

Tomah VA Hosts 3rd Annual Central Wisconsin Hero Games

The 3rd Annual Central Wisconsin Hero Games  will be held Friday. The event will be from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Tomah VA Medical Center.  There will be awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. The goal of this and similar events is to break down the “I can’t” barrier by providing friendly, competition based opportunities specifically tailored to supporting successful return to activity despite a Veteran’s challenges. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. There will be 13 events offered and Veterans can register for up to 5 events. Each event will have an ambulatory and a wheelchair division.
