Authorities have released the name of the passenger who died in the one vehicle crash on Sunday. Sheriff Scott Perkins said the deceased was 70 year old Keith Wayne Nelson of Warrens. Sheriff’s deputies say speed and alcohol were apparent factors the car crash that happened just west of Warrens on County Trunk EW. Deputies say a 44-year-old Yancy Dieter of Warrens drove her car into a series of telephone service boxes and some trees, before it flipped onto its top. Nelson was pronounced dead at the scene. Vernon County Sheriff John Spears and Crawford County Sheriff Dale McCullick report the recovery of stolen property.  On Tuesday, July 25, 2017, a wood splitter was recovered in the village of Stoddard, Vernon County, as the result of a joint investigation by both Sheriff’s Offices.  The wood splitter, and other items were reported stolen to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office in October 2016.  The items were reportedly taken from a rural De Soto, WI property, located on Lawrence Ridge Road, in the town of Freeman, Crawford County.
