Mauston Man Arrested After Hitting a Juneau County Squad Vehicle

A Mauston man was arrested for operating while intoxicated after striking a Juneau County squad car. According to the Juneau County Sheriff’s Office, early Saturday morning, around 12:40am, two Juneau County deputies were assisting a State Trooper with a traffic stop on Highway 12&16, near County Highway J between Lyndon Station and Mauston. The trooper and deputies were standing near their squads when they observed a westbound vehicle driving at the estimated speed limit, but was on the shoulder of the road. Man Killed After Being Struck by Train

A man was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by a train Sunday night. According to the Juneau County Sheriff’s Office, an initial investigation revealed a westbound Canadian Pacific train struck a male subject who was between the tracks in the Village of Lyndon Station. Investigators believe the victim is a 20-year-old Lyndon Station man, but positive verification of the victim is pending. The subject was pronounced dead at the scene by the Juneau County Coroner. Monroe County National Night Out Scheduled Aug. 1

Area residents can learn how to keep safe and have some fun during the annual Monroe County National Night Out Aug. 1, in Tomah’s Winnebago Park. Coordinated by the Tomah Memorial Hospital Community Outreach Department, there is no charge to attend the 15th annual event from 4 PM to 8 PM, which Monroe County Sheriff Scott Perkins says builds neighborhood camaraderie.   The Tomah Police Department’s Bike Safety Expo will be held from 4 to 6 P-M with registration at 3:30.
