Mauston School Board Gets Update on Track and Field Project

The Mauston School Board got an update on the Community Track and Field Project at its regular board meeting Monday night. Superintendent Christine Weymouth said they are finishing up the latex coating on the track and long jump area. Then, there are mounds of dirt that needs to be flatten and seeded by the entryway. The fence is all around the track and the gates will be installed soon. Weymouth said the bleachers have been secured and there will be the inspection of them soon. One Injured in Two Vehicle Accident in Vernon County

A Viroqua man received minor injuries after a two vehicle accident Monday night in Vernon County. Sheriff John B. Spears said 23-year-old Alec M. Steele was traveling westbound on US Highway 14 near Vang Road in the Town of Coon when Steele stated his brakes failed. He struck a round bale wrapper being pulled by 27-year-old Cody D. Strangstalien of Westby and overturned into the ditch. Steele was transported by personal vehicle to Vernon Memorial Hospital. Strangstalien was not transported to the hospital, and received no apparent injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
